Post 1 by Polka dots and Moonbeams (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Monday, 19-Oct-2009 16:19:29

Hello, is anyone else using this phone? With mobile speak or talks, I want feedback from all. *lol*

I've just sent a help desk ticket to code factory, because I'm having trouble with the comm manager. I don't know if this is an accessibility thing or the phone's problem.

I'm in the middle of both a mobile speak trial, and the 30-day trial with vzw. So far, I'm liking this experience better than when I had the phone with talks. Boy, it would be fun to have them side by side! Talks seemed to make the entire phone sluggish, but I'm not abosolutely sure, if it was talks or me the user. lol!

Afterall, I am a newby! I was a lg phone user up until now.

I welcome all the help y'all can dish out. *smile*

Post 2 by Polka dots and Moonbeams (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Tuesday, 20-Oct-2009 11:17:20

Code Factory sure is quick to reply. *smile*

The comm manager issue is a mobile speak thing. There is a bug right now, that should be fixed in the next release.

Do those releases happen often?

Post 3 by forereel (Just posting.) on Tuesday, 20-Oct-2009 22:31:17

Here's a crazy idea. Ask VZW to let you try them both to see if you like one or the other better on a trial bases? I have seen trial versions you can download of both programs, so that be interesting.
Let me know you might just make me a convert. Lol

Post 4 by Polka dots and Moonbeams (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Wednesday, 21-Oct-2009 0:19:21

VZW probably wouldn't have a problem with me trying both, but I'd have to pay full price for the second Ozone. Guess I'm not that curious. *lol*

I've now got hooked up with the mobile speak email list, so hopefully I'll get some good feedback over there.

Interestingly, a couple folks on the list are using the talks on the Ozone. I'm trying to talk to them to exchange some emails. Why are they using talks, how is it working for them, etc...

Mobile speak for smart phones work on the htc Ozone, yes.

I believe you need to use the latest version. From this past summer?

Hey Kristy, good to know you love the Ozone! At this point, I can't be a lot of help with the internet, I'm barely getting it myself. *lol*

Here is the link for the mss email list.
http://www.codefactory.es/en/list.asp?id=19

If it helps at all, here is the link for the Ozone manual.
http://aboutus.vzw.com/pdfs/htc_ozone_etext.txt

Lol, between that and the mss manual, I've been reading a lot. The email list is helpful and code factorie's help desk is quick at responding!

Post 9 by Polka dots and Moonbeams (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Friday, 30-Oct-2009 11:43:37

Wow! Last night, I played with the internet a bit more and successfully logg in to facebook and updated my status! That was fun!

I'm still nervous about deciding to download a internet ap, I'm not sure how to get them onto my sd card. I'll have to read further.

well it's been a really long time sense i have been on the zone but i also have the HTC Ozone with talks and it works great. i have another friend who is not on the zone and she does more with it then i do. she emails and stuff like that i don't but i do wonder how the vc navagater will work with it. but i love putting ring tones on it and other stuff.

Post 12 by kristabell (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Tuesday, 10-Nov-2009 11:39:06

so um can u access the internet? or what?

Post 13 by faithful angel (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Saturday, 14-Nov-2009 9:33:00

I'm sure you can. I'm going to buy the OZone and get the mobile speak plus mobile geo from... I think it's HandyTech or something like that. I talked to the guy at verizon, and he said it was a good phone. Of course, he didn't know about Mobilespeak or talks, but that's OK! I'll do my homework on that one. I know that verizon is currently, or was, offering a deal with the ozone and talks. I'd almost like to see a comparison. I don't know much about talks so I don't really know how they differ.

Post 14 by monkeypusher69 (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Saturday, 14-Nov-2009 10:21:18

i think you should be able to do a 30 day trial of both mobile speak and talks. Talks for windows mobile, which is what you would need for the ozone you can only get through verizon and i people here have reported it runs a bit more sluggish than windows mobile does on that phone.

Post 15 by faithful angel (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Saturday, 14-Nov-2009 14:12:27

Yeah, I had heart that too! I think I'll try windows mobile first!

Post 16 by kristabell (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Saturday, 14-Nov-2009 19:58:17

um i have the ozone im still in my 30 day trial and dissappointed cauz i cant use the internet!! it frustrates me!!! ne 1 plz help!!

Post 17 by faithful angel (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Saturday, 14-Nov-2009 20:04:04

Go If you are using MSS, you should be able to ask on the MSS list for help. If you are using talks, I'm sure there's a list for that too. Sorry I can't help you more.

Post 18 by ddenne92 (Veteran Zoner) on Sunday, 15-Nov-2009 16:15:51

This is to the users who are saying that the htc is running slow, change your homepage to windows mobile or windows default. The htc page you get tends to make talks run slower.

Post 19 by kristabell (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Sunday, 15-Nov-2009 22:37:05

what bout the ozone nn mobile speak? i cant access the net, i have the unlimited package it keeps messin up it says "zoom out" i hit it and use the arrow keys and it says search thats it, please help!!!

Post 20 by Polka dots and Moonbeams (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Monday, 16-Nov-2009 17:46:33

kristabell, once you go into internet explorer, then hit the right-soft key. That'll bring up the list for address bar, history, favorites and such. Choose address bar, then you'll need to backspace to delete everything in the field, then type in the address you want and press the center key I believe.

One of the first things I did, was change my homepage. That option also comes up on the right-soft key.

Post 21 by kristabell (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Monday, 16-Nov-2009 23:00:57

i did i wonder i hit enter.... u dont have issues accessing the net?

Post 22 by Jesse (Hmm!) on Tuesday, 17-Nov-2009 15:17:30

No issues to speak of with the net at all. I use it to check Facebook almost every day when I'm away from the computer.

Post 23 by Polka dots and Moonbeams (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Wednesday, 18-Nov-2009 0:16:10

No issues with the net. Someone introduced me to Mundu radio and I'm loving it!

Post 24 by faithful angel (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Wednesday, 18-Nov-2009 14:07:09

OK, I just found out that Handytech no longer offers the payment for the mobile geo and mobile speak bundle which makes me mad! It's because didn't make their payments is why they had to stop the program. For all who whine about how "blind technology" is hard to pay for, (I include myself in this group), this is why things aren't changing. Sorry, I had to update my response to one of my last posts on here.

Post 25 by blw1978 (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Friday, 20-Nov-2009 0:41:31

Does the Ozone run Windows Mobile, or do you have to download it. I'm considering getting this phone with Talks, but I've never used Talks before. Is there a braille manual for Talks? Also, I'm not sure how much I'd use the internet with a cell phone, cause I have a laptop. Is it worth it with Vorizon, to pay per MB? If so, how much is 1 mb. How many pages could you download. These posts have been very informative.

Post 26 by Polka dots and Moonbeams (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Friday, 20-Nov-2009 12:15:55

As far as I understand it, if you go for the Ozone, you need to choose a data plan the lowest cost one is $29.

Yes, the phone comes with windows mobile.

VZW's accessibility site has a text manual for both the phone and talks.

Hmmm, is it worth it? Not sure. This is my first time with a fully accessible phone, so, so far it is worth it. I'm greatly enjoying mobile speak and all it offers, and the Ozone is pretty darn brilliant! I'm getting more comfortable surfing the mobile web, but not sure if I'm getting my moneys worth yet. *grin* Pretty cool how this phone offers wireless internet as well!

Post 27 by blw1978 (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Friday, 20-Nov-2009 17:20:40

Does that data plan include cell phone minutes? Thanks for the info, I'm nervous about using the net with a wireless phone, I've never done it, but I'm really sick of this pay-as-you go crap. It was okay for a couple of months, but it was never my intention to not have a permanent plan in place.

Post 28 by kristabell (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Friday, 20-Nov-2009 20:10:22

no it doesnt include the minutes. and i cant 4 some reason get the net 2 work with mobile speak.

Post 29 by Jesse (Hmm!) on Friday, 20-Nov-2009 21:57:38

Possibly, pressing the left soft button to zoom may correct your problem, Kristabell. Try it. You also may want to try deauthorizing Mobile Speak, resetting the phone, and restoring everything, but if you do that, make sure your contacts are backed up. Before doing all that though, try dialling *22899, and pressing send. this may re-provision your data package.

Post 30 by SunshineAndRain (I'm happily married, a mom of two and a fulltime college student.) on Tuesday, 22-Dec-2009 21:00:14

I was toldthat youdidn't need to purchase a data plan with the ozone. I don't really care about accessing the Net withmy phone, so I don't want to pay the $30 if I don't have to. I'm really looking forward to purchasing this phone soon, but again, I'm not sure which screen-reader to use. It says it comes with Talks, so that's probably what I'll choose. But do you have to have a data plan? My husband and I would both have these phones and we already have the Net with Verizon's regular home phone service so we don't want to spend $60 on unnecessary data plans.

Post 31 by Polka dots and Moonbeams (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Saturday, 26-Dec-2009 22:08:06

As far as I understand, you must have the data plan with the Ozone.

Post 32 by faithful angel (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Sunday, 27-Dec-2009 0:16:34

How much is the data plan per month?

Post 33 by monkeypusher69 (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Sunday, 27-Dec-2009 1:48:38

i believe $30

Post 34 by faithful angel (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Sunday, 27-Dec-2009 2:59:55

OK, sounds pretty cool! I mean, I guess since people had internet on their phones, they thought it was free, so they started surfing, then got a big bill. Who knows. I mean, I'm not happy about it, but if I'm going to have to pay for it, I'll sure as heck use it!

Post 35 by faithful angel (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Sunday, 27-Dec-2009 23:36:10

I just talked with a lady from verizon, and yes u must have the Data plan with the Ozone and any other smart phone that has been supported by VZW since nov. 15th 2008.

Post 36 by Polka dots and Moonbeams (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Tuesday, 29-Dec-2009 0:56:30

VZW also offers discounts for particular employers. Depending where you or possibly your spouse may work.

There may also be student discounts as well, not sure.

Post 37 by faithful angel (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Tuesday, 29-Dec-2009 14:39:31

Hmmm, I'll have to check into that.

Post 38 by faithful angel (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Tuesday, 29-Dec-2009 16:47:14

I'm happy to report that I just bought the mobile speak and mobile geo bundle. Now all I have to do is wait until Jan 24 for my contract to run out to get the Ozone! I'm excited!

Post 39 by forereel (Just posting.) on Tuesday, 29-Dec-2009 20:11:26

Talk plans come with the data plan, so shopping for a good all around plan for talk minutes, text messaging, family talk, or whatever the title of the service that allows for adding 5 numbers no matter what kind to your service, so that you can talk to these people as if they have VZW is the best way to go instead of adding the data plan directly I think. Sweet device.

Post 40 by faithful angel (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Wednesday, 30-Dec-2009 0:58:30

I've been reading some reviews though, and some have been having trouble with the internet and that kind of thing. Has anyone had these issues?

Post 41 by forereel (Just posting.) on Thursday, 31-Dec-2009 0:24:57

Read this board. *smile*

Post 42 by faithful angel (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Thursday, 31-Dec-2009 2:55:18

I have, but if you go on verizon's website and read those reviews, it's almost a different story. That's why I am asking. LOL

Post 43 by kristabell (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Friday, 01-Jan-2010 0:26:56

i've had issues with the ozone and still do have issues, it makes me mad tho 2 know that i cant use the net and i pay 4 it!! im gon go play with it some more!!! cuz this is juss crazy!

Post 44 by faithful angel (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Friday, 01-Jan-2010 2:52:19

Have you contacted codefactory regarding this issue? I know I keep asking you that, but you never give an answer which leads me to believe you have not done so.

Post 45 by Polka dots and Moonbeams (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Friday, 01-Jan-2010 23:50:35

Wow, the mobile bundle! That is exciting! I just heard a great podcast on mobile geo, it sounds flippin' cool!

I'm not an extensive mobile internet user, but I have had no issues with what I've played around with.

Simple internet searches.
Checked out email.
Listened to internet radio, my favorite!
Posted on facebook.
Oh and checked the weather.

I like the flexibility of the Ozone. I can use vzw's wireless network, or the Ozone's wifi. Internet radio tends to work better with the Ozone wifi.

Definitely keep us posted! Ooh and you are just in time for mobile speak 4 to be released. So exciting!

Post 46 by faithful angel (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Saturday, 02-Jan-2010 0:05:45

Oh I know. I'm extremely excited. I've been waiting to buy mobile speak for 2 years now, and I can't wait. I don't know if I'll buy the Ozone. I want to look at the updated list of codefactory supported phones before I choose, but it sounds like a good phone so far.:)

Post 47 by monkeypusher69 (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Sunday, 03-Jan-2010 12:17:28

To Christabell .. have you gone to a verizon wireless store or called them up and explain your issue and have them walk you through this, thats what their customer service is for. To Faithful Angel since yu bought the mobile speak bundle i'd go to a verizon wireless store and ask them to show you all the windows mobile phones they currently have and then read up some more on the ones you like.

Post 48 by faithful angel (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Sunday, 03-Jan-2010 17:22:58

Actually I need to check out the codefactory updated list before I go anywhere, because there is no reason to fall in love with a phone only to find out that it won't work with mobile speak.

Post 49 by monkeypusher69 (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Monday, 04-Jan-2010 18:35:01

mobile speak works with windows mobile phones pretty much across the board in fact i have found that they don't update the list quickly enough in my own experiences.

Post 50 by faithful angel (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Monday, 04-Jan-2010 19:00:37

Oh, OK, I didn't know that, but watch, it'll be my luck I'll get a phone and it won't work with MS. LOL, that would happen to me! Thanks.

Post 51 by SunshineAndRain (I'm happily married, a mom of two and a fulltime college student.) on Friday, 08-Jan-2010 20:11:43

Hubby and I are proud owners of the HTC Ozone with Talks. Absolutely LOVE it! I'll be back with questions, I'm sure.

Post 52 by SunshineAndRain (I'm happily married, a mom of two and a fulltime college student.) on Saturday, 09-Jan-2010 21:01:18

Ok so here's the story. I locked my phone accidentally, and in order to unlock it, the technical support guy had me reset it. So I did and my Talks went away. Downloaded the demo from VZW'S accessible site and now I can't authorize it 'cuz it wants me to send an Email directly from thephone with the MIA number. I can't set up my Email info in less than 10 minutes. Now what do I do? Please help!

Post 53 by forereel (Just posting.) on Sunday, 10-Jan-2010 1:36:01

Take it back to your store?

Post 54 by SunshineAndRain (I'm happily married, a mom of two and a fulltime college student.) on Sunday, 17-Jan-2010 16:15:26

Has anyone experienced sluggishness while texting? It's almost to the point where I HATE texting on my phone because of it. I've tried changing some things in settings and the Talks settings, but I don't know if there's anything else I can do. Please help.

Post 55 by Polka dots and Moonbeams (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Tuesday, 19-Jan-2010 17:25:15

I blame it on talks. It is why at the time, I hated the phone experience! Mobile speak made the phone so much better!

Hey, I want to think I read somewhere, they are discontinuing the talks for windows mobile?

Post 56 by faithful angel (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Tuesday, 19-Jan-2010 18:29:16

They need to. It's crap!

Post 57 by kristabell (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Wednesday, 20-Jan-2010 3:58:27

talks is not good!! i heard they r goin 2 disable it 2! has n e 1 ever experienced of the phone freezing in the middle of texting and in the middle of emailing? it is so damn annoying!!

Post 58 by monkeypusher69 (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Wednesday, 20-Jan-2010 4:53:45

well it may take them a few tries to get it right i mean mobile speak for symbian was sluggish too .. seems like that may be resolved in version 4 from waht i heard though .

Post 59 by SunshineAndRain (I'm happily married, a mom of two and a fulltime college student.) on Wednesday, 20-Jan-2010 5:12:31

So, can I switch Screen Readers? How does that work? How much would it cost for 2 phones? I'm so disappointed.

Post 60 by kristabell (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Wednesday, 20-Jan-2010 15:31:32

does n e 1 know when ms 4 is goin 2 b out? it was supposed 2 already b out!

Post 61 by faithful angel (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Wednesday, 20-Jan-2010 19:40:31

No, it was not supposed to already be out. They had said it might be out early Jan, but now it's been pushed back and theoretically will be released on Jan 27. Remember, with mobile speak 4, they had to almost totally redo the program to make it compatible with symbian, windows mobile, and pocket PCs so chill! Also just as a info note: windows mobile 6.5 is available for the Ozone as well as the HTC touch pro 2.

Post 62 by Polka dots and Moonbeams (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Thursday, 21-Jan-2010 17:34:23

Sunshine, unfortunately, for 2 phones it is going to be pretty expensive. I bought my mss from Aman Singer for $229.

You could look around for a second hand license. Some folks sell them for $150 or so.

Too bad there isn't a 2-person discount.

Post 63 by SunshineAndRain (I'm happily married, a mom of two and a fulltime college student.) on Thursday, 21-Jan-2010 20:31:05

I got Talks for $99 each. Guess I'll be sticking with that for awhile. That's really sad that they're discontinuing it. It could be a really good thing. I really love my phone, and Talks isn't that hard to use, albeit a few bugs...

Post 64 by faithful angel (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Friday, 22-Jan-2010 11:39:03

Yeah, it's just so new, and I'm not sure they're working on fixing it. You might could contact codefactory directly. I read once on a CF list that a guy was paying 33 dollars a month to pay off his mobile speak. I mean, it's worth a shot! Oh by the way, I went to verizon last night to look at the ozone again, and I found that the keyboard was really cramped. Now, I had an NV 2, so I'm used to a more spread-out keyboard, so I think I'm going with the HTC touch pro 2. Not saying that the Ozone isn't a grate phone, but I found it hard to typeon.:)

Post 65 by shea (number one pulse checking chicky) on Friday, 22-Jan-2010 12:08:53

what mobile speaks do you need for the touch pro 2? I have been trying to figure it out! lol!

Post 66 by faithful angel (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Friday, 22-Jan-2010 14:09:12

It's version 4 which is supposed to come out this week I think:)

Post 67 by SunshineAndRain (I'm happily married, a mom of two and a fulltime college student.) on Friday, 22-Jan-2010 14:44:21

Talked to a blind friend who also has an Ozone with Talks. Two things that can help Talks run better:
1 Updating Talks periodically
2 Getting a 2GB MicroSD card
The latter helps because Talks is a major memory hog and the card is suposed to help Talks run better. So, am thinking about trying that. Much cheaper investment than switching to a new screen-reader. At least for the time being.

Post 68 by faithful angel (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Friday, 22-Jan-2010 15:28:23

Oh good. At least you've found some ways that might help you.:)

Post 69 by SunshineAndRain (I'm happily married, a mom of two and a fulltime college student.) on Saturday, 23-Jan-2010 11:28:08

Yeah, just bought 2 4GB MicroSD's yesterday for the phones. So... We'll see. By the way, I too am having issues with the net. I can't arrow down through the page. It just says, "up" "down." I've tried zooming in and out, using the right-soft key menu... Maybe that's also a memory issue. Who knows. Will have to see about that too. Will be back to update.

Post 70 by faithful angel (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Sunday, 24-Jan-2010 10:25:39

I've heard that talks on the windows phone doesn't deal well with the net.

Congrats on your accesible phone purchase! That is so exciting!

Post 72 by forereel (Just posting.) on Sunday, 24-Jan-2010 22:55:12

I read someplace that one family could use one copy of Mobile Speaks, so check with Code Factory. I can't remember where I saw this.

Post 73 by faithful angel (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Sunday, 24-Jan-2010 23:31:03

Not anymore since one way of licensing is for it to be tied to your phone number. Plus, I don't think you could have more than one phone per user ID. Don't think that'll work. That'd be nice though if it did!

Post 76 by faithful angel (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Wednesday, 27-Jan-2010 22:58:36

It actually works with Windows mobile 6.5 There's an upgrade for it. I mentioned that earlier I think.:)

Post 77 by SunshineAndRain (I'm happily married, a mom of two and a fulltime college student.) on Wednesday, 27-Jan-2010 23:35:13

I think it's a Talks issue. Both my husband's and my phone do it and this phone I have currently is a replacement phone becausethe original I got (which didn't work with the net either), qoze up and erased Talks and then wouldn't authorize Talks and was freezing up and doing all kinds of weird stuff. Thinking about calling Nuance and asking them what to do...

Yes I'd call the inventors, but again check with Code Factory if you're wanting to switch. Seems if you buy 2 licenses you could get a discount, but that's my opinion. Can't hurt to ask right? They can only say no. Lol

Trying to avoid that for now as I really just don't have the funds, but we'll see. I'm not totally oposed to switching, just can't right now, so I'm trying to make the best of it.

OK I love the HTC touch pro2, but there is one issue that I haven't figured out. There are no soft keys, and I'm not sure about the command key. Now, I'm pretty sure there's a way to get around this, so I'm calling handytech in the morning, and I sent in a ticket to codefactory's help desk.:) We'll see how this goes.

I forgot to ask you are you completely blind? is the touch screen hard to use?

Post 83 by faithful angel (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Friday, 29-Jan-2010 20:42:46

No, the touch screen isn't hard to use. So far, I haven't gotten to do much withit besides text, web browse a bit, and do contacts, it works well. I'm running windows mobile 6.5. So far, the soft keys are the only keys u must use the touch screenfor. Hope this helps. BTW, I'm completely blind.:) Loquendo runs nicely on this phone too. I have to fix the licensing process because something didn't go right, but I don't think it'll be a big deal. I'll post more when I do more.:) Meg

I will say this though, I do prefer keyboards so I'm using the touch screen only when necessary.:)

Not much really. Call verizon's technical support, and they will help you. All you have to do is download a folder to your comp, and in the folder, there are 2 subfolders and one of them has a text document in it and another file. First, read the text document and do what it says. It'll tell you what to do with the other file. Good luck.
